FASP - Festival of Art in Stout Park
It's showtime folks! Manley Art Center and Stout Park become alive – the classroom is turned into a bistro-like setting and the colorful feathers fly high beckoning people to come to the festival. The vendors in their canopies line the paths in the park and the stage is set for the musicians to entertain throughout the weekend. The Gallery offers works of “Scenes of Brookings” for all to get a glimpse of what's around us.
This year we have t-shirts for sale at the Information Booth and inside the gallery. Buzz Stewart has created the artwork on the front. Shirts sell for $15.00 (S,M,L, XL and $17.00 for XXL, XXXL. (Volunteers may purchase for $10.00) Also available will be prints of a Jay Mosby painting of the festival grounds for $10.00.
Valerie Albi is handling the Kid's Art Zone and has a lot of very interesting and fun projects planned. The committee members are Violet Burton, Cilde Grover, Joan Eddy, De'De' Nicolls and Valerie Albi. Pete Chasar installs the feathers. Barbara Jervis helps in many ways. Len Burton created the site plan for the position of the booths and Sean Solomon plastered Brookings and Harbor with posters and rack cards.
Violet recorded the ad for radio advertising on KURY FM/AM and KCRE and KPOD. It will air the last week in July and the Festival weekend. Nola Range has posted the vendors with images of their work at www.wildriverscoastart.com.
Hope to see you all at the Festival, working as a volunteer, shopping at the many booths or just taking it easy and enjoying the food, entertainment and ambiance of the event! — Violet Burton
